3D artwork and NFTs

Hello all! been a while, hasn't it? I won't get into the nitty gritty, but obviously, I haven't touched this for a while. The ideas are still in my head, but due to far too many migrating circumstances I've been working too hard in my meatspace job to really touch.. anything, really. Covid saps your inspiration, my spouse was injured at work, and my job has been.. busy. But! That's not the reason I'm making this post.

You've most likely heard of NFT by now. No matter your opinion on if they actually mean something or not, there is one huge fact we cannot deny.

NFTs hurt the environment. Severely. Bitcoin and cryptocoins in general have long been known to have a negative impact, but NFTs are even worse. Not only that, they exist in a gray area, where anyone can claim ownership of anything, creator's permission or copyright be damned.

Recently, the program I use to make my art - Daz 3D - announced that they will start selling art in the NFT marketplace. This is.. a terrible idea. For reasons that are far too long to go into. But, here's the point.

I will no longer be buying anything from Daz 3D. I will continue to use their software, but I will not support their platform. I can buy things from the 3D artists either directly or indirectly, from sites like Renderosity and ShareCG. I will not buy anything from any artist that sells their artwork on the NFT Marketplace.

I know this is a tiny decision. I don't amount to a drop in the ocean when it comes to the big picture. But I cannot support a company that supports the destruction of the environment.

If you come across this post, I encourage you, as well, to never buy anything from Daz 3D.

Thank you.
